I am happy to be here today at the opening of the Sweden Canada Innovation Days. Now in its fifth year, funded by Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency and organised by Business Sweden.
This event has grown into a trusted and valued platform for deepening trade and business relations between our countries. Over the years, it has evolved into a key event for fostering collaborative innovation.
I am especially pleased that we are joined by a prominent business delegation, bringing together more than 30 leading Swedish companies, government agencies and other organisations. Your presence here is a strong testament to our long-standing ties and our commitment to further strengthening our partnership.

In these turbulent and geopolitically challenging times, Canada is a close and trusted ally. We are bound by shared values – our respect for democracy, human rights and our firm support for a rules-based international order.
Today, we are witnessing great momentum in our bilateral relations, both in security and defence as well as in our trade and investment ties. There is already a strong foundation to build upon. More than 150 Swedish companies are established in Canada, and trade and investment continue to grow in both directions.
With our shared dedication to science, technology and innovation, there is great potential for deeper collaboration. This is particularly true in advancing the green and digital transitions that are shaping the future of our economies.
Sweden aims to remain a reliable and long-term partner to Canada. We look forward to strengthening our cooperation in areas such as defence, advanced technologies, clean energy, life sciences and critical minerals.
Furthermore, by working together in emerging technologies like AI, we can push the boundaries of innovation and find new solutions to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
